BSC Business Administration Students Donate $1,436 As Part Of Senior Capstone Project

Seven students from Birmingham Southern College majoring in Business Administration donated $1,436 to The Firehouse Shelter last week as part of their Senior Capstone Project. Myles Kim, one of the group leaders of the project said, "we earned nearly $3,000 from our start up business Steel City Savings and we felt it was very important to choose one local charity who was doing great work in the community, who was respected, and would put the money to good use right away ~ The Firehouse Shelter was a perfect choice."

The seven students also chose to donate the other half of their earnings to the Wounded Warriors organization which serves our veterans who have been injured. The Senior Capstone Project required that each group form a business of their choice, to implement their business plan to earn money, and then donate their earnings to a charity of their choice. The project is the brainchild of four Business Administration professors, Dr. Mary Harrison, Dr. Carolyn Garrity, Dr. Sara Robicheaux and Dr. Rick Lester who felt it was important that the students had a real-world business experience before graduating.

We are so grateful to BSC, each of the professors, and Steel City Savings for reaching out to make a donation to The Firehouse Shelter so that we can better serve our communities most vulnerable citizens.
